What Is A Bahama Mama
Have you ever had a bahama mama? If not, let’s look at what’s in this fruity drink.
A Bahama Mama is a frozen, blended cocktail. It’s made with coconut rum, orange juice, pineapple juice, and topped with a cherry.
Some recipes are made with grenadine, others aren’t. You can make non-alcoholic Bahama Mamas by just blending juice with ice and topping it with a cherry.
This easy fruity drink was the inspiration for my Bahama Mama Jello Shots – and you’re going to love them!
If you’ve ever made Jello before, then these are a cinch!
Layering Optional
If you have ever made layered shots – like my Rainbow Jello Shots – then you know how much fun layering jello is. But, it’s also time-cosuming.
In order to save you time, you don’t have to layer the orange and pineapple jello. You can make them together.
But, if you like how it looks with a layer of bright orange and a layer of bright yellow, then go ahead and make layers.
It’s really up to you!
Use Plastic Cups With Lids
Since you’re going to put them in the refrigerator to set, I suggest getting plastic cups with lids. That way, they won’t spill.
Place the cups on a baking sheet that has a rim. This will prevent them from sliding off when you move them in and out of the refrigerator.
Best Type Of Alcohol
What is the best type of alcohol to use in a Bahama Mama jello shot?
Since traditional Bahama Mamas are made with rum, you definitely need to use it.
Honestly, rum is the only alcohol I used. You can add a splash of grenadine if you want, but they don’t need it.
Or, make them non-alcoholic! A virgin Bahama Mama is basically orange juice and pineapple juice!
Then, don’t forget about the garnish! Add the whipped cream right before you serve the jello shots.
