What’s In A Margarita?

There are three ingredients in a classic margarita: tequila, triple sec, and lime juice. It is usually blended with ice so it has the same texture as a slushie. Then, the glass is rimmed with salt and filled with the frozen drink.

There are lots of different ways you can mix it up – and my watermelon margarita is one of my favorites!

How To Make A Watermelon Margarita

My biggest tip is to buy a watermelon that is already diced for you. You could also buy frozen diced watermelon from the freezer section.

If you are having a party, buy a large watermelon and cut it up and serve it with your drinks. However you make it, you are going to love it.

Watermelon Margarita Ingredients

The fresh watermelon and lime are what make this margarita taste so delicious! The flavors pop out of the glass and into your mouth.

All of the exact ingredient amounts are in the printable recipe card at the bottom of this post. First, here is what you’ll need from the grocery (and liquor) store:

  • Fresh Watermelon Chunks
  • Ice
  • Lime
  • Tequila
  • Triple Sec
  • Coarse Salt

These are the tools that you’ll definitely need before you make this drink.

How To Make a Margarita Without A Blender

The easiest way to make the margarita is with a blender. You just blend all the ingredients together until they are smooth.

If you don’t have a blender, add some crushed ice with the rest of the ingredients in a sealed plastic bag (like a Ziploc bag). Then, shake everything until it’s well blended.

The Best Kind Of Glass For Margaritas

The most common type of glass to use for a margarita is a martini glass. They do make deeper/larger margarita glasses as well.

But don’t let that stop you! If all you have is regular glass, use it! Anything will work for a margarita.

Best Garnish For Watermelon Margaritas

Any of the ingredients can be turned into a garnish. Slice a bit of watermelon and place it on the edge of the glass. You could also slice some pieces of lemon and add them to the edge of the glass.

How To Make This A Mocktail

All you need to do to turn this into a mocktail is use more watermelon and a bit more ice. It ends up tasting kind of like a watermelon lime slushie!

You are going to love this cocktail! This is definitely a party-ready drink that all your guests are going to want refills of! Keep this recipe saved so that you can find it later.
