After making a batch of them, you’ll know why Jello shots are my go-to drinks for parties. You only need a few ingredients and supplies – and everyone loves them.
So, keep reading and I’ll share all my secrets! You’ll be a Jello shot making pro in no time at all!
Best Alcohol For Skittles Jello Shots
I’ve made jello shots with all sorts of types of liquor. From rum to tequila, there are a bunch of different ways to make them.
The Skittles jello is really sweet and has a strong flavor. For this reason, I suggest using a liquor that blends in better instead of trying to compete.
So, I only used vodka. It does a great job of spiking the Skittles Jello Shots without adding any strange flavors.
Remember to use plain vodka. Whipped vodka or flavored vodka will make the Jello taste odd.
You really do just need a few simple ingredients. Sometimes the best things in life are the simple ones!
Let the Skittles do their job and make these spiked cocktails taste amazing.
How To Make Jello Shots
Even if this is your first time making Jello, this is a really easy recipe.
All you have to do is boil some water and then add the packet of Skittle Jello mix.
Then, add the vodka to the bowl. When it’s all mixed together really well, get your shot cups ready.
Fill up each shot glass – but not to the top! Leave room for the whipped cream topping. Set them in the refrigerator until they are completely set (for two hours, or overnight).
Right before your party, add the whipped cream and the skittles. Then, serve them to your friends!
You can make them ahead of time – up to three days early! Just store them without the whipped cream. Add the whipped cream and Skittles candies right before you serve them at your party.
Can you freeze Jello shots? No, don’t freeze them! This will change the texture too much.
Jello Shot Supplies
For the Jello shots, you only need a few supplies.
First, you need shot cups. Use 2-ounce shot glasses. This recipe makes 12 shots.
Next, you’ll need a frosting bag to pipe the whipped cream on top.
If you use a piping bag, I suggest using Ateco #824 frosting tip with it.
That’s it! Then, just serve them to your guests!
