Mexican Flag Jello Shots Ingredients

There are three layers and I used different ingredients in each layer. Here is what you’ll need for each layer. The exact amounts are in the printable recipe card, just a little bit further below.

Green Layer

  • Watermelon Jello
  • Pineapple Jalapeno Tequila
  • Green food coloring

White Layer

  • Gelatin
  • Condensed Milk
  • Lime Juice
  • Grand Marnier

Red Layer

  • Cherry Jello
  • Maraschino Cherry Liqueur
  • Red food coloring
Bowl of green jello and wisk and a bottle of tequila.

I suggest giving yourself plenty of time when you make the jello shots. You need to give each layer time to set before adding the next layer.

How To Make Cinco De Mayo Jello Shots Ahead Of Time

Whenever you’re hosting a party, you want to get as much done ahead of time as possible – including making the jello shots. They will last about two days in the refrigerator. Don’t add the whipped cream and lime on top until right before you serve them.

The whipped cream on top of the Mexican flag Jello shots will melt the quickest. It’s only really pretty for about an hour after you add it.

Right before your guests arrive, pull the Jello shots out and add the whipped cream! It’s so easy!

One of the best things about these Cinco De Mayo Jello shots is the flavor. Seriously, every bite is incredible.

Cinco de Mayo Jello Shots Garnishes

Garnishing these bold jello shots is the other fun part of making them! You don’t have to use all the garnishes as I did, but it sure makes them look extra festive if you do.

After the Jello shots chilled in the fridge long enough for the blue Jello to set completely, I topped them with whipped cream and sprinkles. Then, I add a slice of lime. Voila! DONE!
