The margarita – this classic drink and a favorite of mine, is the perfect drink for so many occasions! Cinco de Mayo, a beautiful summer night or a Mexican Fiesta just to mention a few. This Moscow Mule Margarita gives an updated twist to the traditional margarita by making it with Ginger Beer – let me tell you it is delish!
I gave a little hint on Instagram yesterday about today’s post, but there’s more…I am super excited to be participating in Clinton Kelly’s Make Over Your Margarita Challenge just in time for Cinco de Mayo! And, yes, Clinton Kelly from The Chew and What Not To Wear! Love both of these shows!
The Moscow Mule has become a favorite drink just about everywhere – my friends can’t get enough of them. This Moscow Mule Margarita has the same light tangy taste with a hint of salt on the rim! You can’t have a margarita without the salt!
Whip up these tasty Mule Margaritas to serve alongside your favorite Mexican Fiesta Recipes! Can you say party?! I love a summer theme party – why not host a summer Mexican Fiesta get-together making fun tissue paper lanterns or these chili pepper poms. Cute!
I’m a fan of the salt, so first rim the glass with lime juice and dip it into a dish of course salt.
INGREDIENTS:
- Lime Juice {fresh squeezed if possible}
- Ginger Beer
- Tequila I used Patron Silver, but any 100% agave tequila will do.
- Cointreau or another orange liqueur
- Simple Syrup
- Coarse Salt
Start with making the simple syrup by placing equal parts of water and sugar in a small saucepan. I used 1/2 cup of water and 1/2 sugar. Warm over medium heat stirring until the sugar dissolves. Let cool.
Use fresh-squeezed lime juice if possible or bottled if you are short on time. Be sure to buy enough limes to add to the margarita as well as garnish the glass.
Stir {do not shake} all the ingredients together. Serve over ice and garnish with a lime…Olé!
I have to say that I have never been much of an alcohol snob…it all tastes the same to me, but when I sampled my Moscow Mule Margarita made with Patron Silver, the quality was apparent! No affiliate here…It just tasted good! Sometimes better is better 😉
