How to Make a Cucumber Christmas Tree
If you’ve got cream cheese, garlic, dill weed, wheat bread, and a cucumber lying around, congratulations—you’re halfway to a festive appetizer that will impress your guests!

First things first, toast your bread. This is your base layer, and it deserves to be sturdy and golden like a holiday miracle. Grab a biscuit cutter and cut out adorable little circles. If you don’t have a cutter, get creative! Use the rim of a glass or just embrace chaos and cut freehand.
Now, the cream cheese mixture. Oh, this is where the magic happens!
Mix that cream cheese with garlic and dill weed, and let me tell you, it smells like the holidays themselves decided to move into your kitchen. You’ll pipe this onto your little bread circles and stack them into adorable little sandwich towers.
Now comes: the cucumber tree! Slice your cucumber into long, elegant ribbons (don’t stress if they’re not perfect; it’s rustic!). Then, grab a star-topped bamboo skewer and start folding those ribbons like you’re decorating a cucumber Christmas tree—smaller folds at the top and larger ones at the bottom, obviously.
It’s like playing with edible origami. Finally, skewer the cucumber “tree” onto your sandwich towers. Voilà! You’ve just created a Cucumber Christmas Tree that looks like it belongs in a festive food magazine.
I love how this appetizer brings a touch of whimsy to the table—and honestly, it’s just fun to eat!
Tips on Making Cucumber Christmas Trees
Crafting Cucumber Christmas Trees is like decorating a mini forest of deliciousness! Here are some tips to ensure your festive snacks turn out picture-perfect (and absolutely adorable).
Pick the Perfect Cucumber
Go for one that’s firm, straight, and vibrant green—it makes slicing so much easier. I avoid the ones that look like they’ve had a long day; we want cheerful cucumbers for our trees!
Slice It Good!
Cutting long, thin slices is key to making those cucumber “branches” fold beautifully. If your knife skills aren’t exactly Michelin-starred, don’t worry! A mandoline slicer is your best friend here. Just watch your fingers—no one wants an accidental Christmas “red” on their plate.
Careful with Stacking The Slices!
Stacking the cucumber slices on the skewer is where the magic happens. Start small at the top and gradually work your way down with larger folds for that perfect Christmas tree shape. It’s like building a little veggie skyscraper, except it’s edible and much less stressful. Pro tip: keep it playful! If a slice flops, just call it a “windswept tree.”
Don’t Skip the Cream Cheese
I’m just going to say it—the cream cheese is the unsung hero here. That fluffy, garlicky goodness holds everything together and tastes like a holiday dream. Pipe it onto the bread like you’re frosting a cupcake. It doesn’t have to be perfect; it’s the delicious base for your cucumber creation!
With these tips, you’ll have a forest of edible Christmas cheer in no time. Get ready for the oohs and ahhs from your party guests—these trees are total showstoppers!
