Basil Baked Chicken Legs
Hi! This is Ilona from Ilona’s Passion. For today I prepared basil baked chicken legs topped with butter and garlic. Delicious main dish idea for busy weekday dinners.
Last time I made totally vegetarian entrée-> Sweet Potato Gnocchi with Portobello and Kale and I hope you had a chance to make this delicious dinner. If not you can still check out this recipe. For today I made chicken legs. I was thinking to make a lemon chicken legs but I’ve decided to go with basil. I like to cook or bake with basil. It gives interesting flavor to the dishes. While I didn’t have a fresh basil I used dried one that I always have in my drawer.
To make my baked chicken legs more flavourful I added garlic and the whole house smelled like garlic during baking. But the outcome was great. Garlic and chicken goes well together. Another trick that I do with my chicken is that I add melted butter. The whole chicken tastes much better. Moist, tender and juicy.
This dinner is so easy to make. Just couple few ingredients that you probably have on hand. Melt butter, add basil and garlic powder and smear all over the chicken. It’s that simple.
Baked chicken legs can be served with rice, mashed potatoes or pasta – basically anything. Throw some salad or different veggies too.

Hi im gonna make lemon basil chicken tonite thank you. It says lemon but not where to put it? Can u pls let le know tks
Hi, Wendy! This recipe does not have lemon in the recipe but as garnish on top. I’m sure if you want to squeeze a little on just before the chicken is almost done, that would taste good. Hope that helps!
