This Hawaiian Cheese Ball instantly makes me think of backyard barbecues and casual summer parties where everyone crowds around the snack table.
I love how the pineapple brings a juicy sweetness that mixes perfectly with the creamy, savory cheese—it’s that surprising flavor combo that always makes people go back for seconds.
Summer is in full swing, which means it’s time to throw a luau party! A Hawaiian party includes Luau Party Decorations, hula dancing, Luau Party Drinks and, of course, delicious Hawaiian Luau Party Foods.

I like serving it with buttery crackers, but honestly, I’ve also scooped it up with pretzels when no one was looking.
It’s simple to make but feels special, which is why this Hawaiian Cheese Ball always shows up at my gatherings!
Tips on Making Pineapple Cheeseball
Making a pineapple cheeseball is honestly one of my favorite ways to make appetizers look way fancier than they are.
I love shaping it into an actual pineapple because it always makes people stop and say, “Wait, that’s cheese?!” I love to decorate it with mini pretzels because they give it that spiky pineapple skin look.
I like using pretzels when I want a salty crunch and pecans when I’m feeling a little fancy.
Another thing I love doing is adding fun decorations around it. Fresh herbs, colorful flowers, or even tropical leaves make it look like it came straight from a summer luau.
I also like sticking the actual pineapple top on the cheese ball—it’s a small thing, but it makes such a big statement.

If you’re serving it for kids, you can even get playful and add little edible “eyes” to turn it into a funny character. I’ve done that once, and it was a big hit at the snack table.
Another thing I like is that you can prepare it ahead of time, which means less stress and more time to actually enjoy your party.
How to Make Hawaiian Cheeseball with Pineapple
Okay, so let’s go to one of the parts we are all looking forward to! This recipe is similar to a bacon cheddar cheese ball, so you know the flavors will be good.
I love starting by mixing cream cheese and cheddar because that combo already feels rich and amazing. Then I toss in bacon and pineapple, which honestly might be one of my favorite flavor pairings ever; sweet, salty, and so good.
I like shaping it into a pineapple because it’s cute, and I’ll admit I feel a little proud every time it actually looks like one. After wrapping it up and letting it chill, the real fun begins – decorating!
I use pretzels to create that pineapple “skin,” and it’s my favorite part because it makes the whole thing look like a centerpiece.

I also stick the real pineapple top on because, honestly, why not? It turns a simple cheese ball into something that looks like it belongs in a magazine. I usually surround it with crackers, veggies, and sometimes even fresh fruit for extra color.
I love how everyone always gathers around it first, snapping photos before even tasting it. And trust me, once they try it, it’s gone fast. I also like experimenting with different versions – sometimes spicy with jalapeños, sometimes sweet with coconut, depending on my mood.
No matter which variation I make, it’s always a hit. I seriously think this Hawaiian Cheese Ball is one of the most fun and impressive appetizers you can bring to any summer party, especially a Luau Party!

Pineapple Hawaiian Cheese Ball
Ingredients
- 14 ounces cream cheese Philadelphia is best, soften
- 7 ounces shredded cheddar
- 7 slices bacon
- 1/2 fresh pineapple cored and peeled
- 11/2 tsp garlic powder optional
- 1/2 cup pretzels or salted nuts
- half a pineapple top for garnish
- crackers chips, or chopped vegetables, for serving
Instructions
- Peel and core the pineapple. Cut the pineapple into small cubes. Gently squeeze out excess juice through cheesecloth or a sieve.
- In a large bowl, combine the cream cheese and shredded cheddar. Add chopped pineapple, garlic powder, and crispy bacon. Mix until smooth.
- Form the “pineapple”. Place the mixture on plastic wrap. Form an oval shape, tapering toward the top – like a real pineapple. Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours (preferably overnight).
- Remove the cheese ball from the refrigerator, and remove the plastic wrap. Place the ball on a serving board. Arrange pretzels to resemble pineapple skin. Place the cut top of the real pineapple as the top.
- Surround with crackers, fresh fruit, herbs, or flowers.
