What Is a Chai Tea Latte?

A chai tea latte is a cozy, spiced drink made with brewed chai tea, warm milk, and a touch of sweetness. It’s creamy, comforting, and full of warming flavors like cinnamon, cardamom, and ginger.

While traditional chai comes from India and is brewed with spices, milk, and black tea, the chai latte you’ll find in coffee shops is a smoother, milk-forward version that’s easy to recreate at home.

CHAI TEA LATTE INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 chai tea bags
  • 1 T raw sugar (adjust amount to your taste)
  • 8 ounces of really hot water
  • ¼ cup half and half
  • Cinnamon
  • Dairy-free milk options like oat, almond, soy, or cashew milk would also work to make this a dairy-free chai tea latte.

Follow these easy directions and you will have a delicious Chai Tea Latte in no time!

How to Make Chai Tea Latte (Step-by-Step)

Put half and half in a microwave-safe jar (a mason jar works best for this) and heat for 45 seconds.

Place the lid on the jar and, using a towel (the jar is hot), shake the jar for 10-15 seconds.

Note: If you have a milk frother, you can use it instead of the jar-and-shake method.
