What Is A Mojito?

A mojito is a cocktail that originated in Cuba. Traditional mojitos have five ingredients: white rum, sugar, lime juice, soda water, and mint. People love mojitos because they are effervescent, sweet, and citrusy.

I took this classic drink and gave it a fun little twist by adding muddled strawberries. As you can see, this is a stunning drink – and it tastes as good as it looks!

How To Make A Strawberry Mojito

All of the exact ingredients (and amounts) are in the printable recipe card a little further down in this post. First, I have some tips and tricks that will help you make the perfect drink the first time!

All the ingrediants to make a strawberry mojito. Rum, club soda, mint, strawberries and a slice of lime sitting on a cutting board.

Strawberry Mojito Recipe Ingredients

Here is a quick list of the ingredients you’ll need from the store before you make this drink. All the exact amounts are in the printable card at the bottom of this post.

  • White rum
  • Fresh lime
  • Mint leaves
  • Strawberries, sliced
  • Club soda
  • Ice
  • Sugar

Strawberry Mojito Directions

The first thing you will do is muddle the mint and strawberries together. Only muddle them 4-5 times. That is just enough time for the strawberries and mint to release their natural sweetness and color.

Next, add the rum to the glass. You do not need to shake it, but you can stir it a little bit if you want.

Then, juice the lime into the glass. It tastes so much better if you use fresh lime. Add ice to the top of the glass and top it all off with some club soda.

Time for the taste test! If you think you want it to taste a little sweeter, add a teaspoon or two of sugar.

Mojito Tips

This is such a simple recipe. You don’t have to measure very much out, and the entire thing is ready in just a few minutes.

Here are a few more tips that I think will help you out.

How to Muddle Strawberries And Mint

The best way to muddle them is with a professional cocktail muddler. It’s basically a steel bar with a flat silicone end. This muddler is my favorite one.

If you don’t have a muddler, you can use a pestle and mortar. Or, use the end of a wooden spoon to press the strawberries and mint together.

How To Muddle Mint

When you muddle mint, you just want to press down and twist. You do not want to stir it or overmix it. If you made a paste, you overdid it. The goal is to release the color and flavor into the drink.

Is Club Soda Or Seltzer Better For Mojitos?

If you are going for a traditional mojito, then use club soda. Honestly, a can of sparkling water or seltzer will still work.

Other Types Of Rum To Use In A Strawberry Mojito Recipe

Classic mojitos are made with white rum, but you can have fun and mix things up with a different type! Try it with silver or light rum. It will have a slightly different taste, but it will still mix really well with the mint and strawberries.

Can you make it non-alcoholic?

Yes, you can easily turn this recipe into a fun mocktail too. To make this into a mocktail, just use more club soda and add a splash of vanilla extract. It will taste amazing and have a fun mocktail experience.
