The Best Summer Mojito Recipe
What is your favorite thing about a summer cocktail? My summer drink must-haves are fresh herbs, bubbly, and fruity. Mojitos have all of these things and they are incredibly easy to customize and change up too.
For this mojito, I kept the mint and white rum but added some fresh kiwi slices. Kiwi is both sweet and slightly tart, so it tastes perfect in this bubbly drink.
Summer Mojito Ingredients
I used classic mojito ingredients, so if you are a fan of this island drink, you might already have these things on hand.
- White Rum
- Fresh Mint
- Kiwi
- Club Soda
- Simple Syurp
How To Make Summer Mojitos
All of the exact steps are in the printable recipe card at the bottom of this post. First, I wanted to share a quick overview because once you learn how to make this one, you can make any type of summer mojito.
First, prepare the kiwi. Cut it in half and peel the skin off. Then cut it into 3 slices. I like to eat the other half of the kiwi while I sip on my drink.
Then, muddle the mint and kiwi in your drinking glass. Fill it up with ice and top with rum and club soda.
Now you are ready to enjoy!
How To Muddle Ingredients For Mojitos
It is very important to be careful as you muddle the ingredients. To do this, press the mint into the kiwi slices in the bottom of the glass. The goal is to release the flavors of the mint and kiwi, not to puree them.
The easiest way to muddle the ingredients is to use a cocktail muddler. If you have a mortar and pestle you can use that too. In a pinch, a spoon can also work.
Club Soda Substitute For Mojitos
Club soda has the best taste for mojitos. If you don’t have club soda, you can use seltzer water or tonic water. Both of those will have a slightly different taste so it will change the result of your mojito.
How To Make It A Mocktail
It’s really simple to make this a fun little mocktail for anyone that can’t or won’t drink alcohol. Just don’t add the rum and use more club soda. Garnish it with extra mint to make it fun!
Other Fruits For Mojitos
The best thing about mojitos is that they are super easy to change. You can use almost any type of fruit in them. Here are my favorite ones:
- Blueberries for Blueberry Mojito
- Watermelon for a Watermelon Mojito
- Kiwi for Kiwi Mojito
- Peaches for Peach Mojito
- Raspberries and blackberries for a Berry Mojito
- Mango, Pineapple and more!
