Pineapple Upside Down Jello Shots
These extra-sweet pineapple upside down jello shots taste just like the classic cake recipe. With two iconic layers, they are some of the Best Jello Shot Recipes to serve at summer parties.
Dating from the 1920s, the pineapple upside down cake is a classic that people love to make for parties. Not only does it show off really well, but the flavors are perfect together.
These jello shots capture that sweet and tangy combination. The citrusy pineapple layer on the bottom is topped with sweet cherry jello.
It’s a lip-smacking combination!
But the most fun part of all is the cherry that sits inside the cherry jello.
Since the jello shots are made with alcohol, the cherry soaks it up. These little spike fruits are fun to eat too.
And the best thing about these jello shots is that they’re sweetened with real pineapple and lime juice! They’re fresh and zesty!
How To Make Layered Jello Shots
The idea behind jello shots is pretty simple. You make jello and let it set up inside individual cups.
This lets your guests pick up the cups and enjoy them without you having to serve and mix cocktails for everyone.
Plus, you can make them ahead of time, which gives you time to mingle and party!
But making layered jello shots – like these pineapple upside down jello shots – takes a few extra steps.
You’ll make one layer at a time. Let the first layer set up completely before adding the second layer on top.
After you add the second layer – the cherry jello – place a cherry in it. This will allow the cherry jello to form around out.
The cherry will look like it’s floating!
Jello Shot Supplies
There are a few supplies that you’ll need before you start making these tasty little shots.
First, you’ll need some condiment cups with lids. You can make them in washable shot glasses, too. But if you use the kind with the lids you can store them in the refrigerator before the party starts.
Next, you’ll need a saucepan. You’ll use this to boil and make the jello.
Finally, grab some measuring cups.
Here’s the types of alcohol that I used to make the jello shots:
- Vanilla Vodka
- Amaretto
- Coconut Rum
