Old-Fashioned Apple Crisp Recipe
This old-fashioned apple crisp recipe tastes just like you remember grandma making it! This is the perfect thing to take to a fall party!
There are some recipes that are synonymous with fall – and this is one of them. Every single year I make this apple crisp. It’s a perfect recipe that doesn’t need any additions or modifications (except maybe to add some ice cream on top!).

What’s In Old-Fashioned Apple Crisp?
What makes this so amazing is the fact that it uses all the same ingredients that it’s had in it for decades. Real butter, whole apples, rolled oats, and brown sugar.
This recipe also has sliced almonds for an extra bit of crunch too!
As it bakes, you’ll be able to smell the cinnamon and nutmeg – two spices that define fall baking.

Old-Fashioned Apple Crisp Baking Tips
This recipe will serve about 6 people (less if everyone really loves apple crisp!). If you are trying to feed a party, you might want to double the recipe and make two batches.
What Type of Apples Are Best in Apple Crisp?
I used a mix of Gala and Jonagold. This made the apple crisp sweet with just the right amount of tart! Granny Smith apples are another favorite choice among bakers.

Dairy-Free Option
For a dairy-free version, use a melted dairy-free/vegan butter substitute such as Earth Balance or Country Crock Plant Butter. Serve with your favorite dairy-free ice cream.

Almonds Are Optional
If you are allergic to almonds, you can leave them out. I like how they give the apple crisp a little extra crunch and nutty flavor. This also tastes perfectly amazing without them, too.
