Before you begin, make sure your Cool Whip is thawed completely and chilled but not frozen.

Make the Jello according to package instructions and pour evenly into cups. One small package made three individual cups. Each dessert cup was a little less than 3/4 of a cup. One small package makes two cups of prepared Jello. Place in the refrigerator to set up.

While the gelatin is setting up get started on the fireworks!

Take one Twizzler and fold it in half and cut into two pieces. You will be able to make two 4th of July desserts out of one Twizzler. Take the first one and peel each Twizzler string about halfway down. Do this to all the halved pieces you need.

Pour some of the Karo Syrup into a small shallow bowl dipping the end of each string of Twizzler into the syrup. Then immediately dip the individual strings into a small dish of red white and blue nonpareils. The Twizzlers tend to get a little soft during this process so I placed them in the fridge for 15 or 20 minutes to firm them up.

Once the Jell0 is set, take a few tablespoons of Cool Whip and top it off. If the Cool Whip is soft consider placing the cups in the refrigerator for a half hour or so. Then sprinkle with nonpareils and place the fireworks in the center.

Keep refrigerated until ready to serve.

I recommend making these the same day as serving. The sprinkles could begin to bleed in the whipped topping if left for more than 12 hours.
