How To Make Halloween Treats For Kids
When you package them up in individual bags, they are perfect to hand out to kids at trunk or treat, trick or treat, or in a classroom Halloween party.
All the details are in the printable recipe card at the bottom of this post. First, I have some helpful tips.
Ghost Ingredients
There are only two ingredients in these cute little ghosts. All you need is some marshmallows and white chocolate chips. Yup, that’s all!
Supplies
Here’s what you’ll need in order to make them.
- Candy Eyes
- Parchment Paper (or non-stick foil)
- Wilton Pops Favor Bags – 12 per bag
- Cardstock for Boo topper
- Stapler or glue plus scissors or Exacto knife.
Chocolate Melting Tips
After making a few mistakes, I’m here to share the tips that will help you avoid them!
Melt One Bag At A Time
I suggest melting one bag at a time. You could make two at a time, but the chocolate begins to harden so don’t make a batch!
Use A Microwave-Safe Dish
My other tip is to use a microwave-safe dish. I first tried a ceramic bowl and it was a major failure! The bowl was so hot it was cooking the chocolate, and it became hard as a rock…down the drain, it went. I then used a small corning bowl and it was just right…smooth, creamy chocolate!
Pour the 1/2 cup of chocolate into a bowl and microwave in short increments stirring between until smooth.
Do Not Overcook Them
Be very careful not to overcook! I usually start at 40 seconds, then 20 then a little more if needed. Sometimes just mixing it melts the chocolate a little more in place of overheating.
Mix In Mini Marshmallows To Make Ghost Treats
Add the 1/2 cup of marshmallows to the melted chocolate and stir to coat.
Spoon onto parchment paper creating a larger round are at the top swooping to a curled tail at the bottom. Flatten any lumpy marshmallows with a spoon.
Before the chocolate begins to harden, press the eyes into the chocolate. Let sit for an hour or so until the chocolate is hardened.
That’s how easy it is to make these cute treats.
Make Individual Halloween Treats For Kids
Print out the Free Printable Bag Topper and attach it to the bag with a stapler or glue. I actually stapled the bag and glued the topper overtop. That way the ghost stays in place.
Let the ghostly fun begin!
