The Best Rum For Mojitos

What is the best type of rum to use for mojitos?

When you’re choosing a rum for your cocktail, it’s important to consider the flavor profile of the rum as well as the other ingredients in the recipe.

For example, if you’re making a mojito, you’ll want to choose a light rum that won’t overpower the mint. Similarly, if you’re making a piña colada, you’ll want to choose a rum with a bit more body to stand up to the creamy ingredients.

Ultimately, the best way to choose a light rum for your cocktail is to experiment and find a rum that you enjoy drinking. So go ahead and grab a few different bottles from your local liquor store and mix up some cocktails! You might just find your new favorite rum in the process.

For this mojito, I suggest using Bacardi Superior Rum. It’s really mild and lets the other flavors stand out.

Use Fresh Mint

One of the things that makes a mojito unique is the bright flavors of mint. So, for this pineapple coconut mojito, use fresh mint leaves. You’ll be able to taste the difference!

If you don’t have any fresh mint, you can also use some mint extract or mint syrup. Whatever you do, don’t skip the mint.

Use Fresh Lime Juice

Just like the mint, using fresh lime juice will make your mojito taste fresh and amazing! I suggest grabbing two limes from the grocery store and using a juicer to get as much juice out of them as possible.

If you don’t have limes, bottled lime juice will work too.

Can You Store Leftover Mojito?

No, this tastes so much better when you make it fresh! I don’t recommend making a pitcher of it and trying to keep it in the fridge. The rum will separate, so it’s better to just make a glass when the occasion warrants it.
