A sparkling Cranberry Moscow Mule is the perfect drink to serve at holiday parties or for yourself while you wrap presents (or watch a Hallmark movie). It will easily become one of your favorite Christmas cocktails every year.

I gave the classic combination of vodka, ginger beer, and lime juice a fun Christmas twist – cranberry juice! The plump cranberries look absolutely perfect with the bright green limes.

While there are plenty of holiday parties that you can serve this Christmas mule consider hosting an Ugly Christmas Sweater Party!

What Is A Moscow Mule?

A Moscow Mule is a simple drink that usually includes just three ingredients – vodka, ginger beer, and lime juice. It’s usually stirred and served chipped in a copper cup.

Here’s a fun little fact for ya! The Moscow Mule originated in Hollywood, in 1941. A lady named Sophie Berezinski immigrated from Russia and brought 2,000 solid copper mugs with her. In order to sell her mugs, she worked with the owner of Smirnoff vodka to create a cocktail people would love, and the Moscow Mule was born!

So, a Moscow Mule isn’t the real version unless it is served in a chilled copper mug.

Best Vodka For Moscow Mules

If you want to stick to the class recipe, I suggest using Smirnoff vodka. I used Tito’s handmade vodka because I love the taste and it’s gluten free.

Any type of unflavored vodka will work wonderfully in this drink.

Best Type Of Cranberry Juice To Use

To prevent the cocktail from tasting too sweet, I suggest using completely unsweetened cranberry juice. If you want to use cranberry juice cocktail, just know that it’s usually sweetened with additional sugar and other types of fruit juice. You might want to add a bit less.

As for the garnish, I suggest using fresh cranberries. They are a lot less messy and look the best on your mug.
