Nightmare Before Christmas Charcuterie Board
This year, I decided to dive into the spooky charm of a Nightmare Before Christmas Charcuterie Board, and I’m thrilled with how it turned out! I had a good time on this board inspired by the beloved film and can’t wait to share it with you.
Every year or holiday season, I’m always on the lookout for fresh, creative charcuterie board ideas to spice up my celebrations! And it’s the perfect time of year to host a Nightmare Before Christmas Party!
Along with this unique and whimsical creation, I’ll also sprinkle in some budget-friendly tips for assembling your own charcuterie boards, DIY decoration ideas, and must-have accessories to improve your board.
Whether you’re a seasoned charcuterie enthusiast or just starting, I hope these tips help you create something magical and memorable for your next gathering!
Budget-Friendly Tips for Your Charcuterie Board
Creating a stunning charcuterie board doesn’t have to break the bank! With a few smart tips, you can make a beautiful and budget-friendly spread that’ll wow your guests!
Here are some tips I use to keep things affordable while still making an impressive board:
Shop Sales and Use Coupons
First, of course, is using coupons! I always check for sales on cheese, meats, and crackers. Coupons and store loyalty programs can also help you save a lot!
Buy in Bulk
Purchasing items like nuts, dried fruits, or crackers in bulk can be much cheaper. Plus, you can use leftovers for other meals or snacks!
Seasonal Produce
This is something that some people forget – which is such a waste! Use fruits and veggies that are in season. They’re more affordable and fresher – they also add great color and flavor to your board.
Repurpose Leftovers
Don’t be scared to repurpose leftovers! If you have extra meats or cheeses from previous meals or parties, include them on your board. It’s a great way to use up what you already have.
DIY Elements
Instead of buying pre-made dips or spreads, you can make your own. It’s usually cheaper and you can customize the flavors to your liking. Plus, you can even make it with your family and can serve as a mini bonding time!
I find that with a little creativity and planning, you can create a gorgeous charcuterie board without spending a fortune!
DIY Decorations and Charcuterie Board Accessories
Adding a personal touch to your charcuterie board with DIY decorations and accessories can make it even more special and festive! I love getting creative with DIY elements because they really make it stand out.
Customized Labels
First is having customized labels! You can do this by using small chalkboard tags or even paper cutouts to label your cheeses and meats. It’s a great way to add a personal touch and help your guests know what they’re enjoying.
Festive Toothpicks
This might seem like a small thing but decorating your toothpicks with tiny bows, stickers, or even washi tape creates a charming and festive effect. I like to match the toothpick decorations to the theme of my board!
Mini Serving Utensils
You can find affordable mini tongs, spoons, and knives at dollar stores or craft stores. These mini utensils do not only look cute but are also perfect for serving smaller items.
Homemade Dips
Make your own dips like hummus or pesto and serve them in small and decorative bowls. It’s a cost-effective way to add variety and flavor to your board!
Seasonal Accents
I also suggest adding seasonal items like mini pumpkins, pinecones, or holiday-themed cookie cutters as decorative accents. They really make your board look extra special!
Personalized Placemats
I love personalized placemats! You can create a custom backdrop by using a large piece of parchment paper or a decorative cloth. I like to add a few hand-drawn designs or seasonal motifs to make it unique!
With these DIY touches, you can make your charcuterie board truly one-of-a-kind and perfectly customized to your celebration!
Jack and Sally – Nightmare Before Christmas Charcuterie Board
The Jack and Sally Charcuterie Board is more than just a board—it’s a playful work of art that can steal the show at any Halloween or Christmas celebration.
What makes this board special is how it brings together a mix of flavors and textures while capturing the whimsical essence of Jack and Sally.
To create this festive board, start with the centerpiece: white-brie cheese shaped into Jack and Sally’s iconic faces. I love using a food marker for detailed drawings, but food coloring and a small brush work just as well if you’re in a pinch!
Then, surround these eerie faces with a dramatic black backdrop of seasonal berries like blackberries, currants, and blueberries. To round out the board, add a variety of deli meats and some white chocolate ghost-shaped crackers for a fun touch.
Now, after this quick overview, let’s proceed to the most awaited part – the recipe!

Nightmare Before Christmas Charcuterie board
Ingredients
- 2 small rounds of brie cheese
- 1 cup black currants
- 1 ½ cups large garden blackberries
- 4 – 5 slices of hard cheese
- 13 ! ghost crackers
- 3 1/2 ounces’ salami
- 1/3 cup cherries
- 4 oz. prosciutto
- 4 – 5 cocktail tomatoes
- Mint for garnish.
Instructions
- To decorate the cheese ghosts, you will need a cookie star cutter and a cocktail straw. Cut out the body of the ghost from a slice of cheese. Use the cocktail pipe to make two holes for the eyes and two holes next to each other for the mouth
- Place 2 circles of brie cheese on the board. With Jack, draw two triangular eyes, 2 dots – nose and a scarred mouth. Sally will take a little more work. Draw oval eyes with eyelashes, nose, mouth and scar. Place a pitted cherry in the center of the mouth.
- Transfer the centerpieces to a tray lined with a paper napkin. For Sally’s red hair, use cocktail tomatoes and salami folded in quarters. Combine the salami slices in pairs and arrange in curls. In the left corner, arrange the prosciutto slices rolled up in a roll.
- Sprinkle blackberries generously around the centerpieces.
- Add “blood”- cherries and cheese and cracker ghosts. Decorate the board with mint.
