January is coming to a close and Valentine’s Day is just around the corner! What do you guys usually do for your kids on Valentine’s Day? I was always a fan of giving them a couple of little things they could enjoy, some of which of course included sweets and candy.
While brainstorming for this year’s Valentine’s Day, I realized something. Do you know what kids are super into these days? Slime! I see it absolutely everywhere, and despite that, it’s sticky and somewhat gross, they love it and it’s SUPER easy to create!
My kids always got all worked up about what they were bringing for their classmates this time of year because they wanted everyone to love it. This slime is an awesome option for that, and also comes with a free printable!

Homemade Slime Valentines With Printable Labels
Materials:
- 1 Container of red glitter glue
- ¾ and ⅔ cups very warm water separated
- 1 tsp. Borax
- 2 Mixing bowls
- Mixing spoons
- Red glitter
- Small plastic containers with lids – These containers are from Dollar Tree
- Scissors
- “Slime for my Valentine” printable Valentine
- Ribbon (optional)
Instructions:
Start by mixing together 1 bottle of red glitter glue and ¾ cup of very warm water in one mixing bowl. (Optional: add 1 Tbsp. red glitter) Mix well until combined.
In a separate bowl, mix together 1 tsp of Borax and ⅔ of a cup of very warm water until the Borax is completely dissolved.
Combine the Borax mixture with the glue mixture and continue to mix until you reach a slime consistency. This will take some time, and you may even eventually want to start mixing and squeezing it with your hands to help it combine more. If there is excess water, you can pour it out at the end.
Cut out the “Slime for my Valentine” Valentine cards from the printable.
Trace the top of the lids to your containers and cut the Valentines out to sit inside the top of each small container.
Put the slime into each small container and close the lids.
Use double-sided tape to attach one Valentine to the top of each container lid.
Decorate your containers with an optional ribbon if you choose.
Note: This mixture will fill about 5-6 small containers. You can double or even triple the recipe if needed to make even more Valentines.
Hope the kids love making their Slime Valentines and handing them out to their friends!

This is such a great idea! It has gotten tricky to bring a Valentine gift to classmates… so many food allergies and restrictions. This would be a hit with everyone (well, maybe not the teacher, but they could say you had to wait until you were home to open it up!) Love this creativity:)
