Hello again! It’s Kati from Houseful of Handmade. I have a serious case of spring fever this year. Maybe it’s because winter has been holding tight, but I am dying for all things springy and floral. Lucky for us, spring is coming! But until then, you can have a little spring fun with this Tea Cup Template printable. Because if you can’t have spring outside, you just have to make it for yourself inside right?
As I have been itching for spring to finally show up, we have been decorating our home. Making things bright and fun and floral! It all started with our Spring Mantel. After months of white and neutral for winter, I was ready for some colors and flowers. Using printable seed packet art, I made a statement in our home. Now I am ready to put flowers on everything!
Since I have a hard time keeping houseplants alive and cut flowers only last so long. My new favorite thing is flower prints. They never die! So now we can enjoy something bright and springy all the time. I decided to have some fun with flower prints and made these fun 3D tea cups. They are so perfect for spring, and perfect for spring gift giving too!
With Mother’s Day, Easter, and Teacher Appreciation all coming up in the next couples months, who wouldn’t love a fun tea cup gift! You can fill the tea cup with their favorite tea, some chocolate (or other treats), or even a gift card. It’ll put a smile on anyone’s face when they get the floral paper tea cup.
So if you are ready to make your own 3D paper tea cup, you will need to start by downloading the tea cup printable template here. Then print it out on some cardstock and let’s get to work.
Cut out your pieces along the solid gray lines. Then to get cleaner fold lines, score along all the dotted lines. For a quick trick to add score lines, use a metal nail file and a ruler to run a line down the dotted line.
Glue the two handle pieces together, making sure to leave the ends after the dotted lines un-glued. I love using hot glue for creating 3-dimensional paper crafts like these beautiful farmhouse lanterns.
Place the tea cup top, face down. Fold all the score lines upwards.
Insert the ends of the handle into the cuts in the side of the tea cup. Open the flaps and glue to the inside of the tea cup to secure.
Now start gluing up the sides of the tea cup. Add glue to the flap and secure it to the inside of the piece next to it.
Continue gluing the flaps all around the tea cup.
Place the saucer on the table with the color facing up. Fold all the score lines upwards.
Add a tiny dot of glue to the flaps and secure to the back of the saucer. Continue on all the flaps. Clip the corners so they are flat along the top.
You can leave the tea cup and saucer separate, or add a bit of glue to the bottom of the cup and secure it to the saucer to give it more stability. It is also better to secure it if you are going to be using it for gifting!
Now all that is left is filling your tea cup with some goodies. I love the idea of filling it with chocolates and wrapping it with a box of tea. Or fill your tea cup with wrapping filler and a gift card. I also used the tea cup template to create a simple spring tablescape. It’s perfect for a spring brunch with friends.
I hope you enjoy your tea cup template this spring. If you love making fun things out of paper, check out these other ideas too!
