Are you looking for a great edible gift for the holidays? I am excited to share an exciting homemade gift idea for friends and family, Friendship Soup in a Jar Gift.
How to make Mason Jar Gifts
I love edible gifts for the holidays. They create the perfect personal touch for gift-giving during the holiday season. Mason jar cookie mixes are a popular gift idea but it’s easy to get overloaded on sweets between Thanksgiving and Christmas. That’s why I decided to mix things up a bit this year and put together this hearty Friendship Soup in a Jar Gift.
Your friends and loved ones will love receiving this soup in a jar recipe. It comes together in under 30 minutes and makes a huge pot full of hearty soup; perfect for those cold winter nights.

Let me share how quick and easy this soup in a jar is to put together. Here are the supplies you’ll need:
Supplies For Each Friendship Soup Jar
(Each jar serves 12 people)
1 wide-mouth quart jar with lid
1/4 cup beef bouillon granules
1/4 cup dried minced onion
2 teaspoons dried Italian seasoning
1/3 uncooked wild rice
1/3 uncooked long-grain white or brown rice
1/2 cup dried green split peas
1/2 cup dried lentils
1/2 cup elbow macaroni
1 to 1 1/2 cups tri-colored rotini pasta
How To Assemble the friendship soup jar
To assemble your Friendship Soup Mason Jar Gift, layer each ingredient in the order listed above in a 1-quart wide-mouth jar.
Be sure to use a jar with a tight-fitting lid like that found on a canning jar or a flip-top jar. Firmly pack down between each layer. Seal the jar and then attach a gift tag with ribbon or twine and top with a bow.
I created this gift tag PDF that you can download. (at the bottom of this page)
To make it more durable, print the tag out on heavy paper or card stock. Once you cut out the tag, simply tie it onto the jar with ribbon or twine. These also make fabulous teacher and hostess gifts; simply add your own gift tag or sticker label that suits the occasion.
Friendship Soup Additional Ingredients:
6 cups low sodium vegetable stock
6 cups water
1/2 Pound of ground beef or turkey
1 – 28oz. can diced tomatoes (undrained)
Black pepper to taste
And there you have it! An amazing homemade gift made in about 10 minutes.
