Healthy Chocolate Waffles
I’m so excited for strawberry season. To me strawberries mean spring, so when I walked into the grocery store and was greeted by a large display of bright red strawberries on sale, I had to grab a few pounds.
And while I could easily eat the strawberries as a snack, I knew they would be perfectly piled on top of some delicious but Healthy Chocolate Waffles for breakfast.
Growing up, we always had a big breakfast on the weekends. Saturday morning breakfasts were as important as family dinners.
We would all sit down together and enjoy breakfast. I loved having a big breakfast as a family and it was great to eat something besides cold cereal.
During the week, our breakfasts consist mainly of cold cereal, granola, or oatmeal. If the kids want breakfast before school, it has to be fast.
But on the weekends, I get to make the breakfasts I remember having as a kid. We all sit down together and start the weekend off right! And what better way to start your Saturday than with these Healthy Chocolate Waffles covered with cream and strawberries!
I love using Greek yogurt in them to make my waffles healthier for my family. The Greek yogurt adds protein to the waffles to keep us full. Then I use whole wheat flour to make sure we are getting some nutrition from the flour.
And to make sure we get a full serving of fruit in our morning, we cover the waffles in fresh strawberries, cream optional (ok not really optional in our house, but if you really want to be super healthy I guess you could go without, or just use sparingly).
Thanks to strawberry season, we have been enjoying these Healthy Chocolate Waffles for our family breakfast for the past few weeks. I know it makes waking up a little easier for everyone.

Greek yogurt is like the “secret sauce” of nutrition, isn’t it? I’m always amazed by the protein hit… I use it a lot, but never thought about using it in waffles. Great idea!
Yes, Seana, it is a great substitute for high fat ingredients. I love using it and never miss the bad stuff!
These look wonderful l! My family would love them! I can’t wait to try them!
These looks so good and I would never have guessed that these was a healthier option since they look perfectly indulgent!
We were so happy to try this recipe for Mother’s Day 2021! It was absolutely delicious and the chocolate aftertaste wasn’t too sweet! We served them with sliced bananas and sliced strawberries on top of Reddi wip on individual waffles. And they tasted as great as they were beautiful! Thank you for sharing this recipe–we are going to make them again this week!
Yay! I’m glad you enjoyed them, Mary! Thanks for letting me know!
