DIY Chandeliers and Outdoor Lighting
One thing I love about summer is outdoor entertaining. Whether it is a few friends or a crowd, it is the perfect time to spend outdoors! I always love going to restaurants and sitting under draping, glowing lights – always feels like a festive occasion!
Two years ago when we built our outdoor pavilion, I made sure that we could create a similar environment! I had a few electrical outlets added to the edge of the roof to plug in my lights. (The contractor didn’t exactly see my vision but went along with it!)
My husband hung a few hooks in the mortar of the brick to attach the other end. I will even light them in the cooler months, feeling the glow coming through the windows to the inside!
I bought my lights at Target for about $13 – love the look of the patio at night! One tip – I bought a few extra strings of lights to use as replacement bulbs. It is nearly impossible to match them…and I sometimes break a few, so it is good to have extras!
I also like to hang all kinds of bright-colored lanterns outside. Most of the time they only last one season due to rust, but they are so inexpensive to pick up each year! Tie a few colored ribbons around the handle to match any party theme!
One thing I absolutely love…is an outdoor chandelier! The kind you make yourself. Here are a few I love – I hope they inspire you to create your own!
One of my favorites…using a wire basket, canning jars and crystals – from Sunset.
This chicken wire chandelier is also fabulous – from Funkytime!
This one has medieval appeal using recycled baby food jars and twisted wire – from Natural Home & Garden!
This one might be more for the dinning room, but I just had to share – from Teal & Lime!
This one is just funky and fun…with lots of bling! How to make a Garden Chandelier from Empress of Dirt!
A perfect way to recycle wine bottles – from Paul Rainville Designs!
Love how easy it is to create this succulent chandelier made from a pot rack – from Erin Ever After!
Hanging painted glass lanterns – from Lowe’s!
Glowing outdoor orbs – from The Art of Doing Stuff!
This is not really for lighting up the backyard…just cool! From Design Bloom
