Halloween Crow Garland

Welcome to a new series I am starting here at Oh My! Creative. This is the second Member Monday Feature and this weeks feature is this cool Halloween Crow Garland by Carolyn from Homework!

Let me explain what Member Monday Feature is all about…

First, you need to be a member of the Oh My! Creative Community and have posted a few projects to the website. What I would like to do is to feature one of your earlier posts as a new blogger. I know, myself, that I have plenty of blog posts from past years that I think are still great posts, but are lost and worth a re-post!

So, what I am asking, if you have a great post from your early days as a blogger that fits in with the Oh My! Creative content, I would like to re-post and feature it for you! This could be any DIY type of project, recipe, party…etc. A tutorial would be great or even a home tour of your favorite room. The more variety the better. What I am not looking for is inspiration posts – a collection of others peoples content or personal posts. I would like it to be your own creative content. Besides posting your original post on the blog with a link back to your blog, I will also be featuring it on facebook and twitter. Email me is this sounds like something you would like to be a part of at

Now onto Carolyn’s Halloween Crow Garland! Visit Carolyn’s blog and follow her…she is so very creative! Oh, and she has an Etsy shop!

In her own words…

Like many crafters this season, I picked up some black crows at the dollar store. These guys are a crafters dream. For only a dollar each, you can adorn just about anything.

I’ve seen these black crows on wreaths, pumpkins, branches, under bell jars and just about everything – each one looking spectacularly spooky!

I had several ideas for these crows but decided to make a fall garland out of paper that I had on hand. For this garland I used a a circle paper punch and glued them to string. Since the garland tends to flip around, I used a front and back for each circle so the string wouldn’t show.

The crows were perfect to hold each end of the garland. I mounted the crows onto a white tile for weight and glued the garland ends to the beaks.

I added a few nuts in a votive and a weathered copper urn along with the black flowers I posted about last week.

I think he’s quite happy to be out of the dollar store bin and on my tabletop.
How about you? Did you find these crows at your local dollar store? How did you decorate with them?
