Breast Cancer Fundraiser – Pink “Royal” Fascinator Hats
Rally for a Cure is a yearly golf fundraising event I like to participate in raising money for Breast Cancer. This year the Women’s Golf Association has had a running theme with all events inspired by the Queens Diamond Jubilee!
So, last week when our group was reviewing the sign up sheet, we noticed that there was a prize for best hats! What, a creative challenge for me to create the best hats? I can do that!
I bought a few supplies at Joann Fabric, including these fabulous rhinestone pink ribbon embellishments, to make us fabulous Royal Fascinator Hats! Have you ever googled “royal hats” on google images? You should…they are amazing!
Of course, I put off making them until the night before the event just as a big storm was rolling in…and what happens…the power goes out. Determined to make great hats for my friends, I continued to make them by candle light! I was very frustrated, but finished them. We knew we couldn’t win any prizes for our score, but we won for best hats! Yeah, a sleeve of pink golf balls and of course the recognition of “Best Hats” was worth the eye strain from dim candle lighting! It is also why you won’t see any step by step photos!

Supplies to make four hats – 2 packages of pink tissue paper, 1 1/2 ” ribbon, feathers {I cut up a boa that I already owned}, rhinestone pink ribbon embelishments found at Joann Fabric, craft wire, glue, and curved hair clips found in the jewelry/beading department.
I took 8-10 sheets of the tissue paper {still layered} and cut it into 10″ squares. Just like making a tissue paper pom, I accordion folded the tissue paper securing it with wire in the center and rounding the ends with scissors. I fluffed the paper keeping one side flat and attached my hair clip between the fold of the paper and wire. Finished it off by glueing the feather boa in the center as well as the ribbon with the rhinestone Pink Ribbon attached. Very simple to make…even in the dark!
Linking to these wonderful parties!
