Flexible Flyer Sled Christmas Tablescape

It’s always fun to find new and unusual uses for items we already own…especially when they hold memories from our past. I created this sled tablescape for a cookie exchange using an old Flexible Flyer Sled from my childhood.

You know, back before everything was made of plastic! This one is worn and heavily used…perfect with all the vintage elements being used these days. Its flat wooden top was perfect for holding a nice, large platter of cookies!

The sled was decorated with flocked greens, gilded pine cones and fruit with silver glittered stems – topped off with a pretty red bow!

My newish wood table needed a little protecting. I found this extra-wide snowflake wrapping paper at Target a few years ago. It looked festive…better than any tablecloth…and protected my table from any scratches.

I used a few glass cylinder vases filled with sparkly snowflakes as cookie plate risers.

  1. I love this idea! I have my late FIL’s childhood sled and my old ice skates. I will use them to decorate the buffet for our family dinner. The tip of using the wrapping paper is perfect also. I have a few rolls of Target wrap with a snowflake pattern that would look great with our dishes. Thank you for this idea . We use an old baby snowller that we fill with small gifts that will look great with this.
