How To Use Essential Oils For Seasonal Challenges
Essential oils have gained popularity in recent years, and there have been many conversations about their use and safety. While we love using essential oils in our daily life, we recommend that everyone learn about proper safety in regards to the oils they are using within their home and around their children especially. Essential oils used in a diffuser and within a carrier oil topically are common occurrences, but some oils are not safe to be used on children and an essential oil should never be applied directly to the skin without a carrier oil for safety. We recommend researching safe dilution ratios and advice for use with children.
Peppermint: One of the best essential oils for seasonal challenges is Peppermint. If you’ve ever had a stuffy nose, you most likely have learned that minty scents help that congestion to open up a bit and make it easier to breath. Peppermint in a diffuser is an excellent way to help give your nasal passages some comfort and allow breathing to be easier while you are stuffed up due to these symptoms.
Eucalyptus: Eucalyptus is a natural plant that is often used for helping with occasional respiratory discomfort. A few drops of eucalyptus oil diffused in a steamy shower can help open up nasal passages easily. This is one oil to be very careful about using around children as it can be very dangerous and painful on sensitive skin. Add 2-3 drops to baking soda and water to create a paste. Allow the paste to dry out in cubes and then drop one into your shower for a natural shower bomb to aid in occasional respiratory relief.
Lavender: Not only is lavender one of the most widely known plants and essential oils used for calming, it is great for helping soothe when you are struggling with seasonal symptoms. It is a naturally calming essential oil that when combined with lavender and lemon can work wonderfully as an aromatherapy blend to soothe you when seasonal symptoms are overwhelming.
Lemon: Nothing is as pleasant as the fresh smell of lemon in your home, and lemon essential oils are great for using in aromatherapy when you have seasonal discomfort. Lemon is naturally refreshing and is a great addition to your diffuser to help you breath easier and overcome the frustrations of seasonal challenges.
Thieves: When cleaning up pollen and other dust or dander around your home, there is nothing better to use than the great combination of essential oils that forms the popular blend thieves. Not only does it have a great scent, it is naturally cleansing.
If you are looking to have some essential oils for seasonal relief on hand, these 5 are a great place to begin. Not only does safe aromatherapy help to soothe and comfort your body and mind, the smells in your home will make it a great addition to your Spring cleaning routine.
