Cookie Exchange Recipe
Many of my friends loved the casserole I made for the cookie exchange, asking for the recipe. So as I emailed it out tonight I thought I would also add it to the blog. It was really delicious and can be made the night before making it great for entertaining. I found it in my Better Homes and Gardens magazine and have provided a link to the site if someone would like to print it out. Chicken Florentine Artichoke Bake Ingredients 8 oz. dried bow tie pasta 1 small onion, chopped 1 Tbsp. butter 2 eggs 1-1/4 cups milk 1 tsp. dried Italian seasoning 1/4 to 1/2 tsp. crushed ... continue reading...
Christmas Cookie Exchange
Here is a photo of my invitation to the cookie exchange. I explained how I made them in an earlier post. I found this pretty green ribbon that coordinated with the invitation, added a thin red ribbon and a red gem to make a napkin ring. I served a simple Italian casserole, salad and bread sticks. I made these "star butters" by softening the butter and pressing it into a rubber ice cube tray. After refrigerating they popped right out.I had these decorative paper squares for each person to write down the kind of cookie they brought. I used a hole punch and threaded a bamboo skewers ... continue reading...
Progressive Appetizer Party
This is the second year we have had a Progressive Appetizer Party. Somehow the progressive dinner is more work. We invite around 10 to 12 couples having 3 host homes. We spend and hour and a half at each home. Two other couples are assigned an appetizer to bring to a designated home. This way the person hosting is only responsible for drinks and one appetizer. It makes entertaining at this time of year so much easier and not so overwhelming. At the Third home we also bring a White Elephant Gift. It is suppose to be some junky thing you have around the house, but this group like things ... continue reading...
Christmas Decorating Ideas
Here are a few things I love about my house this Holiday Season. Inspired by something I saw in a catalog, I went out in the woods, before it got really cold and drug this dead tree branches into my garage. Another warmish day I spray painted them with white paint leaving some of the wood tones to show through. I then very carefully wedged them between the two light fixtures not using anything to hold them in place...they just stayed...can't touch them. I hung a few glittered snowflakes on them. I also reduced the wattage of the light bulb to 60 giving the room a nice glow. I just ... continue reading...

Christmas Cookie Exchange Invitations
I created these DIY Christmas Cookie Exchange Invitations a few years ago when hosting a lunchen along with the cookie exchange! After looking for weeks for a nice Cookie Exchange Invitation and not finding anything, I came across these pretty blank note cards. The cards were blank inside, so I was able to feed them through my printer before adding the decoration to the front. They originally had a monogrammed “S” on the front. So I used a computer design program and made a type design with "Sweets & Treats Cookie Exchange" outlined in a box. I printed them ... continue reading...
