Instructions:
Here’s how to make your own sugar scrub. It turns out so pretty and smells heavenly.
I made these in a HUGE batch with a few friends – I think we made 75 individual homemade sugar scrub favors. It is a little hard to give an exact recipe.
1. Dilute the Food Coloring
First, I diluted my food coloring, in a small amount of water in a small cup. Mine was a gel-based icing food coloring and I thought it would mix better with the sugar in a more liquid form. Be careful not to use too much water. Oddly enough the food coloring does not dilute in oil…I tried it. My guess is because it is water-based.
2. Mix the Sugar and Oil
I used a 10 lb. bag of sugar and possibly 1 1/2 bottles of safflower oil. Add more or less depending on the texture you want the sugar scrub to be. More oil will make it runnier and less will make it fluffier.
3. Add the Diluted Green Icing
Mix these ingredients together first, then add in small amounts of the diluted green icing coloring until the desired color.
4. Drop Essential Oil
Add 40 – 50 drops of essential oils {or more if you like} until you are happy with the aroma of the oils! Use any essential oil scent you like…the Young Living Oils smell so good!

5. Fill the Pretzel Bags
Once the sugar scrub is mixed well, you can fill the pretzel bags. They tend to be a little long so we cut them down with scissors about 1 1/2 inches. Then carefully filled the bags with sugar scrub using long skinny spoons similar to these measuring spoons.
6. Use as a Centerpiece
They fit nicely into glass cylinder vases to use as a centerpiece.
