Paint Dipped Owl
Let’s get on with this super fun and easy craft – a paint dipped owl! This project can be done with any ceramic or plastic figure you find at the thrift store. I found my ceramic owl at Michaels on sale for a couple of bucks. And while he’s cute and all, sagey green isn’t really the look I was going for:
First, pick your base color – for mine I chose a nice clean white. Then I spray painted my entire owl and let dry.
After that to get the “paint dipped” effect I taped off a diagonal line using painter’s tape and then used my second color – a pretty aqua – and spray painted below the tape.
Once everything is dry, remove the tape, et voila! An awesome paint dipped owl for some modern and colorful decor! I love the new look and it goes so great with my house and style.

I love it – wow, a totally different look from that green owl. And so easy- great project for a flea market find!
I’d just sprayed an owl quite similar to that for my new potting bench. A brighter green. I immediately went out, taped my owl ( ummm…I had a bit of trouble getting my diagonal to meet but I lifted, tried again and it was okay). I looked at my cushion of many colors paisley and decided to add the turqouise. I carefully took the tape off and gave my green a bit more paint in areas where the colors don’t meet. It looks pretty cute. I like it white but that wouldn’t stand out against the side of my house so this it shall be! Thank you for the instant extra that makes my owl hoot!!!
Aw, thank you so much! I’m so glad my tutorial inspired you! It sounds like your owl turned out absolutely beeHOOTiful 😉
Oh my goodness! SO stinking’ cute! And SUCH a transformation!!! LOVE it!
Such a simple idea and it turned out so cute and modern! Love it. I’ve got spray paints in my basement penitently waiting to be used! I feel inspired!
This is so adorable. I love beautiful, repurposed items. After seeing this I need to go through my house and find a few items to beautify. I’m thinking of a white vase that needs a face-lift. Thanks for inspiring creativity!
