This is a cute handmade Valentine’s Day Card/CD I am working on for my son’s classroom. What I like about this is that it is a non-candy card or favor! My son attends a school for children with special needs and when candy treats {or little toys} come home…most of the time I throw them out. What the children really like is music!
After some thought I came up with the idea to burn a CD of children’s songs and create a cute little card {or case) to put them in. The idea… “Songs From The Heart” Valentine’s Day Card!
Supplies
Felt Sheets {I used red and pink}
Adhesive Felt Decorations {Mine are from Joann’s}
Stencils {number depends on the words/letters you want to stencil}
Velcro Dots
White Craft or Stencil Paint
Fabric-Tac Glue
Small Stencil Brush
Pinking Shears
Blank CD’s
First, I measured to see what size I needed to accomitdate the CD. Honestly, I just eyeballed it! I left about 5/8″ on each side of the CD. I trimmed the sides, with the felt folded, using the pinking shears. Then ran a thin line of the Fabric-Tac glue down each side about 1/4″ in from the edge gluing the sides together.
I then trimmed the top to give it an envelope look and placed a half of a Velcro dot to the flap.
This next step took a little bit of time, but wasn’t too bad. I cut the two stencil sheets apart to form my words “Songs From The Heart.” I attached each letter to a strip of paper using transparent tape. The paper gave me something to hold onto and secured the letters well. Then, I stenciled from the bottom up so that I wouldn’t be covering the wet paint with another stencil. I ended up switching to a smaller sencil brush once I got started. I also didn’t concern myself if I got a little paint on the outside of the letters…makes it look handmade, right?!
I then added these sweet little {Song Bird} felt cutouts! They were self-adhesive along with the hearts!
