Equipment

  • Suacepan
  • Cocktail Shaker
  • Glass

Ingredients

  • 1.5 ounces Tequila
  • 1 ounce Cointreau or another orange liqueur
  • 1 ounce Fresh-Squeezed Lime Juice
  • 1/2 ounce Simple Syrup
  • Lime
  • Ice
  • Coarse Salt

Instructions

  • Start with making the simple syrup by placing equal parts of water and sugar in a small saucepan. I used 1/2 cup of water and 1/2 sugar. Warm over medium heat stirring until the sugar dissolves. Let cool.
  • Use fresh-squeezed lime juice if possible or bottled if you are short on time. Be sure to buy enough limes to add to the margarita as well to garnish the glass.
  • Fill a lowball glass with ice.
  • In a shaker add 1.5 oz tequila (more if you’d like a stronger drink), Cointreau liqueur, lime juice and simple syrup – shake.
  • Place coarse salt on a plate. Rim glass with the juice of a lime then dip into salt. Pour over ice into a plan or salt-rimmed glass.
  • Garnish with a lime wedge, if desired.
