Healthy Rainbow Fruit Platter

Whether you are planning a St. Patrick’s Day party or you just really like to make lunchtime and snacktime fun, this fruit platter is perfect! It’s super easy to put together and makes even normal snacks a fun occasion.

The best part is, that you can use your favorite types of fruit! I am sharing all the exact steps I took to create the one you see above. Don’t feel like you have to copy it. If there is a fruit that you don’t like, don’t use it.

How To Serve A Rainbow Fruit Platter

I like to arrange the fruit into the shape of a rainbow. The bananas are used as the clouds! Then, I set out something that lets people grab their favorite pieces of fruit. I will either set out some toothpicks, or forks.

I have seen a few other people do it differently. They arrange the fruit on wooden skewers first. This is another easy way to do it!

Best Fruit For A Party

All types of fruit are fair game. If you enjoy eating them, then place them on the platter. The only real rule is that you arrange them in ROYGBIV order.

These are the types of fruit that I used:

  • Strawberries
  • Mandarin Oranges
  • Pineapple
  • Grapes
  • Blueberries
  • Raspberries
  • Blackberries
  • Banana

Can You Use Veggies On A Fruit Platter?

Yes, you can make this a combination of fruit and veggie platter. Or, you can even just make a rainbow veggie platter instead.

Can I Make A Fruit Platter The Night Before?

It’s best to make the fruit platter fresh, right before you are going to set it out for your guests. Even though you can spritz the bananas with lemon juice to make them not turn brown so quickly, the fruit platter will look so much better if you prepare it on the day of your party.

Best Fruit Dip Recipes

Don’t forget to set out a bowl of fruit dip too! There are a ton of different recipes out there for dessert dips. Here are a few of my favorite ones:

How To Make An Easy Rainbow Fruit Platter

Here are all the steps, along with some photos of the entire process.

Ingredients

  • Red: Strawberries, Raspberries
  • Orange: Mandarin Orange Segments
  • Yellow: Fresh Pineapple
  • Green: Green Grapes
  • Blue: Blueberries
  • Purple: Purple Grapes
  • Indigo: Blackberries
  • Clouds: Sliced Bananas

Rinse fruit and berries well and drain in a colander. Peel the pineapple and cut it into bite-sized chunks. Trim the tops off each strawberry with a knife and slice into quarter pieces.

Washed raspberries, blackberries and blueberries in a white strainer.
Washed red and green grapes in a white strainer.

Begin assembling your rainbow at the bottom. It can be helpful to place a small bowl where you want your rainbow center curve to be.

Fruit likes to roll away so making this rainbow requires a little patience! You want to add one layer of fruit and then add more layers to make the rainbow a nice, full rainbow.

Add your fruit to the rainbow in this order:

  • Blackberry
  • Purple Grape
  • Blueberry
  • Green Grape
  • Pineapple Chunk
  • Orange segment
  • Strawberry
  • Raspberry

Last, slice and add your sliced bananas for the “clouds.” I used two bananas for each side of my rainbow fruit platter to make big, fluffy clouds!
