Soups are very common in my kitchen. I basically make them couple times a week. Mainly we have Easy Chicken Soup Recipe or Tomato Soup. However, sometimes I love to try new flavors. Soups are nutritious and I am happy when my children eat healthy food. The other thing that I love about soups is that any vegetable can be added like carrot, celery, onion etc. Basically, anything to make it very delicious.

We eat soups for lunch or dinner. Sometimes instead of cooking the main entree, I will prepare any soup.

While St. Patrick’s Day will be here soon, maybe you’ll make this green soup. My children will eat anything green on St. Patrick’s Day. Everything is green everywhere so even food has to be green:)

This simple pea soup is very easy to make and requires only a few ingredients. You only need frozen green peas to make this yummy soup. The dill is optional but adds additional flavor to the soup. Also, it can be served with rice, potatoes or without anything extra.

First I cooked the peas for 10 minutes. They became soft very quickly. Then you need to have a blender to blend the peas completely to make it creamy. If you would like to make it gluten-free, just omit the flour. However, the flour adds a little thickness to the pea soup recipe.

Ingredients:

6 cups water or chicken stock
4 cups frozen green peas
1 celery stick
2 Tbsp. butter
2 Tbsp. flour
2 Tbsp. chopped dill (optional)
salt/pepper to taste

Directions:

In a large pot pour the water or chicken stock, add frozen green peas and celery stick. Cook for 20 minutes on medium heat until peas will be soft.
Cool off the soup before blending. Remove celery.
Add peas with a little water to the blender and blend until smooth.
Add everything back to the large pot.
Melt butter in the pan, add flour and cook for few minutes mixing often. Add it to the soup and mix everything nicely. Cook on low-medium heat for 10 minutes. Add salt and pepper to taste
Serve with potatoes, rice, pasta or without anything.
