Haunting Halloween Candle Holders – DIY

I have been working on a few decorations for this years Glam Goth Halloween Party. I have seen a few tutorials on using Dollar Tree candle sticks plus glass cylinders and turning them into very cool candle holders.

Haunting Halloween Candle Holders – DIY

GORILLA GLUEI bought the glass cylinders and the candle sticks from Dollar Tree. A couple of the candle sticks were shorter to make my finish candle holders varying heights. I used Gorilla Glue to attach the two together. With an assortment of skulls, sparkly trims and feathers I decorated the containers. No two were alike.
Dollar Store Craft Candle Holders On several of them I used a sparkly tulle and attached a felt skull coaster from Wilton – found at Joann Fabrics. I then attached all the different trims to create seven different designs. Some of the expensive trims I bought in June at 75% off…who buys skulls in June…I do!

  1. Hi! I love these, and totally want to re-create something similar… BUT… I’m having a terrible time finding a “glue” that will adhere the tulle, tassles, etc. Can you recommend something?!?

    1. Hi Tiffany,
You need to use Gorilla Glue. It can be found at most craft or hardware stores. Warning don’t get it on you fingers and a little goes a long way. It does not dry clear either, but for this it worked fine and held the glassware together well. If you don’t want the glue to show at all this would not be the product to use!

      Good luck!

  2. I’m creating these fabulous candles for a dinner club party one weekend and Euchre Card Party the next weekend! Can you tell me where you found the skull ribbons? I’ve searched high / low at all the craft shops and dollar store but haven’t found anything that comes close to these. My next stop will be Hancock Fabrics because I know they have some unique embellishments and fibers.
Any help you can give will be greatly appreciated!
I’m glad I found your site on Pinterest!

    1. Hi Sharon,
Unfortunately, I made these a few years ago. I bought my ribbon and trim from Joann Fabrics. I am not sure if they still carry anything like it.
I searched on google…halloween skull beaded trim ribbon – this is what I came up with. Hope you find something!

      1. Thank you so much, this will help. I’m usually pretty resourceful too in that if I see something I can normally recreate it using my ‘stash’ of trim, fibers, etc…. My arts / craft room is a total retail outlet!
