Sensory Valentine’s Day Card

I’m sharing my son’s Sensory Valentine’s Day Cards today! They were simple to make and {I think} cute. My son attends a school for children with disabilities. The kids have all kinds of different needs, and it is often hard to send in things that seem appropriate for everyone. I thought it would be cute to create a card that they could touch and feel the texture of the heart on the card.

I selected a photo of my son with his hands together looking as if he is holding the heart. I then went to my favorite photo editing website, PicMonkey, to add my type. As you can see at the top I added the type “Valentine You Touch My Heart” and at the bottom signed his name. Then I sent it off for prints.

I found a bag of sparkly foam hearts similar to these Foam Glitter Stickers Hearts at JoAnn Fabric to attach to the front of the card. They have a rough texture…perfect for touching! Bonus – they are also self adhesive! Using an X-acto Knife, I cut around his fingers so I could tuck the bottom of the heart underneath them – he looks as if he is holding the heart!
