Frosty Valentine Heart Garland

While Valentine’s Day warms our hearts, but baby it’s cold outside!! Once all the Christmas decorations were down, I thought it would be fun to create a little outside Valentine decoration…I am loving my Frosty Valentine Heart Garland!

Frosty Valentine's Day Heart Garland

Hang it anywhere or lay it in the snow! I am warmed by the sight of my hearts on this chilly day!

Valentin's Day Frozen Ice Hearts

Arn’t you mesmerized by the red food coloring in the pitcher of water?! I used the Wilton 6-Cavity Silicone Heart Mold Pan *affiliate link* to make my hearts and Jute twine to make it a garland.

None of my tape really wanted to hold the jute in place on the silicone pan, but I manage to get the masking tape to somewhat stick. To have the hearts dangle about the same distance apart, I measured about three inches between each heart. Loop the extra jute and secured it to the mold. I also made sure that the jute entered and exited each heart in the same location, so they would hang evenly.

I placed my toaster oven tray underneath for support and since the temperature was below freezing, I carried the mold outside to freeze overnight…and in the morning…frozen hearts!

As the sun came and went, the icy hearts changed texture, looking extra frosty in the late afternoon shadows. I so enjoyed looking at them, in the snow, from my window!

What a clever idea! NEVER would have thought to make garland from ice. But hey, it’s winter, right? SO why not??

Anyway, thanks for posting this. If you’ve never visited yet, I hope you can pop by my blog sometime to say hi…

    1. Thank you, Jennifer! I didn’t know I was feature, so I will pop over and thank her! It is certainly cold enough to make the Frosty Heart Garland! Stay warm!

  3. I didn’t have the patience to fuss with the twine so I just made a bunch of these and tossed them in various spots outside – on the picnic table, etc. I made some little vignettes with pine cones and such. They were cute and it is a great easy project to do with kids. Thanks for the inspiration!
