Tips for a Chic Wedding on the Cheap

I saw this great story Friday on Good Morning America and thought it was worth sharing. I am a bargain shopper at heart and can’t believe when I hear that couples spend up to $50,000 on a wedding. Sure it’s fantastic and the pictures are beautiful, but is it really worth it. Well this couple definitely found a way to have a wonderful day at a fraction of the price. This is Ken and Tavon Ferguson and you can see their story at Good Morning America …watch the video and get their full story. If your planning a wedding it’s worth it!

Can you believe this is not a real cake? She found a vendor who literally makes a Styrofoam replica of a cake decorated with fondant and regular icing. There’s a little slot in the back for the knife so you can get pictures cutting the cake. The kitchen then cut and served sheet cake from the supermarket. This is fantastic and I’m sure nobody knew.

A few additional tips from the story…

Being flexible about the time of your wedding could spell big savings.

Look for wedding packages that include those hidden “extras.”

Look for online discount deals on favors, save-the-date cards and invites.

Go for pros looking to break into the wedding market. You get a deal and they get the good references.

Find bargain blooms at Costco or Sam’s Club.

Buy your cake at the supermarket.

Dream dress out of your budget? Consider a secondhand gown.
